Ahora que los metal hardcorianos de Detroit, Walls Of Jericho, han sorprendido a todos con la edición de un EP acústico, donde su vocalista Candance Kucsulain cambia su visceral registro habitual por perfiles más melódicos, podemos ojear su pasado escuchando su primera grabación, The Bound Feed The Gagged, distribuida en España por Mastertrax.


El álbum data de 1999 y fue un punto y aparte en la trayectoria de la banda ya que en 2001 se separaron para retornar a la actividad en 2003.
The Bound Feed The Gagged, es un trabajo que se basa en la bilis que vomita la salvaje garganta de Candance, al estilo de Sabina Classen (Holy Mosses), pero cambiando la entonación thrash por la hardcoriana.



El protagonismo es tan dominante que deja en segundo plano la parte instrumental, donde podemos escuchar hirientes guitarras de riffs recurrentes, además de una batería de pegada cruda y primitiva.
Candance, por la vía del grito, parece querer convencernos de que odia a medio mundo y está cabreada con el otro medio. Su presencia es tan turbadora que intoxica la atmósfera con su virulencia vocal.




 
Por lo demás, los guitarristas Mike Hasty y Chris Rawson se encargan de dar volumen y consistencia con una actividad frenética impulsada a base de tensar las cuerdas a lo bruto.
Intensos, convulsivos y desafiantes, así irrumpían en el terreno del hardcore Walls Of Jericho. The Bound Feed The Gagged, es una ocasión para conocerles desde el principio.
Mencionar que Candance ya daba muestras de saber cantar dejando aparcada la agresividad, en el corte Angel, con un radical cambio de registro hacia texturas suaves.
